We aim to foster a holistic approach to support children in developing the skills and knowledge they require to lead positive, healthy and play meaningful roles in today’s society. In a diverse world, we want our children to have an awareness of different socio-cultural factors and understand how they can influence their own character as well as others.
We want our children to be empowered to make confident choices in their lives, underpinned by self belief and knowledge of themselves and the world around them. We support our children in developing high aspirations, identifying stepping stones to achieving these and the barriers they may face, developing their sense of self.
Children’s mental health and wellbeing is of high importance. We support children through enabling them to recognise and respond appropriately to a range of emotions, to self-regulate and understand the role that others have in maintaining positive mental wellbeing.
We want our children to be respectful, kind and considerate of all and have the emotional intelligence to recognise how their actions impact others. This includes knowing how to build healthy relationships based on mutual trust and respect, knowing when and how they can help others.
We teach our children in line with the National Curriculum, adhering to Relationships, Health and Sex education guidance. We address the importance and role of British Values through our progressive, insightful curriculum. Important messages are threaded throughout our school curriculum through its cross curricular nature. Subjects such as: ICT, P.E., R.E., History and Science allow children to develop a deeper understanding of an array of topics, ranging from keeping safe online to the importance of inclusivity.
