We recognize that Art and Design stimulates creativity and imagination and allows children to respond to the world in a special way by giving them visual, tactile and sensory experiences. Our children will be given opportunities to explore ideas, record their experiences and develop their creativity.
Through our skills-based curriculum, pupils will become confident and proficient in using a variety of techniques; primarily drawing, painting, sculpture and printing. They will be introduced to different artists, designers and craftspeople and learn about the impact they have had on history, culture and the world around us.
In accordance with the 2014 National Curriculum, Norbriggs Primary strives to ensure that all pupils:
• produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
• become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
• evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
• know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms
