Camp Fire Fun
Children in Forest Schools have been learning how to make a safe camp fire. They looked at the 3 elements (oxygen, fuel and heat) that a fire needs to light and burn. The children also learnt about: the safe distances from buildings, the fire ring diameter and the safe distances where they could sit.
Next, the children learned how to create a safe spark by using a striker. They used a striker to create a safe mini fire and learned how to extinguish it.
Children had fun around the main camp fire; they toasted marshmallows and drank hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows or enjoyed a nice cup of tea.
